Did you know that swimsuit fabric isn't waterproof?

This is one of those things that when you think about it, it makes sense, but often people assume that their swimwear is waterproof. The main things that are looked for in swimsuit fabric is that it is lightweight, breathable, stretchy and comfortable. Our lycra fabrics offer four-way stretch, are super-flexible and resist pilling and abrasion. Moisture-wicking abilities draw perspiration and water from the body making these materials ideal for printed swimwear fabric.
  • Choice of different swimwear fabrics

What is Swimsuit Fabric?

Swimwear is simply clothing that is designed to be worn by people who intend to take part in a water-based activity; it is also worn when doing things like sunbathing. People call swimwear a multitude of different names, often depending on where it will be worn, what it will be worn for, and also the shape of it. Swimsuits can be worn by men, women or children, and can also be worn as underwear for a wet-suit. Originally swimsuits were much fuller, and covered a large amount of the wearer's body, from the 1930s onward, new materials were being used, and swimsuits began to become more figure-hugging than they previously had been, and since the 40s and 50s swimsuits have often been featured in glamour photography and beauty contests. From the 1960s, swimsuits began to get smaller and more revealing, and have varied in shape and size ever since.

Digital and colourful

Your custom swimwear fabric is printed digitally in our London studio by our experts using methods which will bond your custom design to your chosen fabric in fantastically detailed, full-colour print. You can choose to have your fabric hemmed, with either a folded or overlock hem, depending on the fabric that you've chosen. If you would prefer not to have your material hemmed so that you can make and finish your own glorious swimwear, you can have this sent as it comes, or cut on the line with all of the white edges removed.
