Care instruction
The most pampered of our fabric ranges, there’s a trick to keeping these needy girls and boys at their fluffiest and most gorgeous, and the secret lies in a stiff brush. Every few washes if you feel the fibres stiffening at all, wait till the fabric is dry then give it a loving brush until you feel it relax and return to its pampered self.
Information About Your Knit Fabric
Working with knit is a sheer joy and there are so many options you can make with it. Our innovative knit material process allows us to print deep into the fibres of fabric, fusing the ink and creating a vibrant and permanent print. At Bags of Love, you can choose not only the type of knit you want, but also the dimensions and the finish. There are several different kinds of knitted textile, including Lycra, jersey, lace, and fleece. A knit characteristically is soft and stretchy, thanks to its construction. The yarn is formed into an interconnecting loop construction, which causes it to stretch significantly along the weft. Some knits have a very good 4-way stretch. Our selection includes both, and all have very good recovery rates, so your design will always return to normal once the fabric is relaxed.

How Does Digital Printing On Knit Fabric Work?
Our specialist print technique gives a flawless and bold finish. Every fabric is different, thanks to their construction and their base tone. As such, sometimes the print may look a little different. Colours can range from vibrant and intense to ever so slightly soft and muted, which gives a beautiful effect. Knitted fabrics are special as they stretch. This stretch can cause the designs printed on them to be stretched as well. Our fabrics have a wonderful recovery rate, which means they always spring back into shape. The ink is fused deep into the fibers, so your design will not rub or fade away.
Depending on how you plan to use your knit fabric, you can choose how you want the edges to be finished:
- As it comes. We roughly cut around your image, leaving a simple scissor cut (perhaps uneven white fabric border).
- Hem with thread. We can hem your fabric with a choice of black or white thread. Please allow 1-2 days additional production time. See below for information on how hemming affects the size of your print.
- Cut on the line. We neatly and precisely cut on the edge of your image.
If you would like your textile to be finished with a hem, please keep these measurements in mind and factor them into your final dimensions:
- Light fabrics: we use 6-8mm in the hem (2 fold), so your width/height will be minus 12-16mm
- Medium fabrics that fray: we use 15-20mm in the hem (2 fold) so your width/height will be minus 35-40mm
- Stiff/heavy/no-fray fabrics: we use 15-20mm in the hem (1 fold) so width/height will be minus 35-40mm
How To Care For Your Knit Fabric
Knits are generally very easy to care for. When you design your own knit fabric with us, you can be assured that you will receive a gorgeous, high quality fabric that will stand the test of time. We do have some care recommendations, that, if followed, will preserve the print and construction of your textile. Although knits are soft, they are surprisingly hardy. The print will not fade as long as it is washed on a cool and delicate cycle (never above 30 degrees C). We also recommend allowing your knits to drip dry. If you need to iron them, please use a low/cool setting. If in any doubt, you can take your fabric to a specialist dry cleaner or get in touch with us via the online chat and we will be more than happy to help you further.
